The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

Committee Member Appointments

Council approved by resolution the committee member appointments to the Cross Roads Rural Community Fire Company as follows:

Town Council Representative:
• Councillor Jody Jackson

Community Representatives:
• Kevin Jenkins (3rd year of 3 year term)
• Carol-Anne Duffy (3rd year of 3 year term)
• David Milligan (2nd year of a 3 year term)
• Kathy Livingstone (2 nd year of a 3 year term)
• Teresa Hennebery (1st year of a 3 year term)
• Mark Lanigan (1st year of a 3 year term. Term to begin June 1, 2023)
• Dave Swan (Term extended to the end of May 2023)

Accessory Building Approved

Council approved a resolution to permit an accessory building, a detached private garage, on property number 299883 within the front yard of the property due to the irregularly shaped lot and slope of the property.

Commercial Building Approved

A resolution approving a new commercial building to be located on parcel number 1021617 (approx. 1.17 acres in total area), located at 8 Myrtle Street within the Stratford Business Park, subject to the outlined conditions, was passed.

Appointment to Boards

Mayor Ogden was appointed to serve as a member of the Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities (FPEIM) board for the remainder of the current term. A resolution was also passed that Council of the Town of Stratford endorse Mayor Ogden to stand for election on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM)’s Board of Directors for the period starting in January 2023 and ending in June 2023.

Procedural Bylaw Amendment

First reading was held and approved to make changes to the Procedural Bylaw, Bylaw #47, to amend the name of the Accountability and Engagement Committee to be known as the Intergovernmental Affairs and Accountability Committee as well as to update the Terms of Reference for this committee. The amendment also includes the removal of the Events Sub-Committee Terms of Reference and will see the work of this committee actively included in the Recreation, Culture and Events Committee.
