At the June Stratford Town Council Meeting 12 grade five students were recognized from their artwork which was submitted for the Town’s annual water school calendar art contest.

The Town of Stratford and Stratford Area Watershed Improvement Group are proud to have recently completed the 13th year of water school, also known as “Water’s Cool”, which is an annual water conservation/watershed education program for grade five students. Through water school, the Town and watershed group are instilling a sense of environmental responsibility in the students who attend, and the youth leave eager to change how they use water and treat the natural world around them. They also bring the information learned back to their families and friends and hopefully make changes as a result of sharing their new knowledge.
To date approximately 3,500 students have participated in the program, which includes the expanded program provided since 2019 partnering with the City of Charlottetown, to include students in their area for a second week each year.

The artwork featured in the calendar, which is produced by the Town of Stratford and Stratford Area Watershed Improvement Group, shows a different student’s illustration for each month of the upcoming school year. It is distributed to all of the students at Stratford Elementary School as well as the participating classes from Donagh Regional and Vernon River Consolidated schools. The following students are featured in the upcoming 2022-2023 school year calendar:
