The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

Street Names Approved

In separate resolutions, Council approved required street names for:

- A street name for the new access that will be off Spruce Lane on PID 538207, to be McLean Lane, after the McLean’s who own the land that the new laneway is constructed over.
- A new subdivision to be constructed off Mason Road which will contain two new public streets to be named Oliver Way after Oliver Mason who lived there from roughly 1881-1907, and Gertie Gate after Gertrude Wood lived on the property from 1905-1978, and was known in the area always have a tin of maple leaf cookies for the neighbourhood kids which affectionately called them “Mrs. Wood’s cookies”.

Re-Appointment to CADC Board

A resolution was approved re-appointing the Town’s representative, Michael Fleischmann who is a member of the Town’s Sustainability Committee, to the Charlottetown Area Development Corporation (CADC) Board.

Transit ICIP Application Supported

Council, by resolution, is supportive of the application to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program to support transit in the greater Charlottetown area, and if the application is successful, the Town’s contribution of $487,272.90 (HST incl.) is agreed to be incurred over four (4) fiscal years, beginning in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
