The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Text Amendments Approved to Zoning and Development Bylaw

Stratford Town Council approved amendments to the Zoning and Development Bylaw, Bylaw #45. These text amendments bring updated language to improve the bylaw as well as changes to the Home Occupations section. A public meeting was held on July 27, 2022 with a period of time provided following to allow for comments to be received from the public.

Temporary Use Permit Issued

A resolution was approved for a Temporary Use Permit to allow a food truck to be located at Cotton Park as part of the Town’s upcoming Fall Fest on September 23 to 25, 2022. The permit conditions include:
1. That the food truck shall be located on the Cotton Centre property (as per the site plan) from September 22 to September 25, 2022, and the hours of operation for these days shall be from 12 noon to 9 p.m.
2. That the food truck vendor shall provide the Town with a valid copy of the food service license/permit, and any other relevant license/permit, issued by the Province prior to the food truck being located on the Cotton Centre property.
3. That the food truck vendor shall ensure the clean-up of all debris around the location and the site is reinstated to its previous condition prior to the event.

Sidewalk Replacement Tender Approved

Council approved a resolution for the replacement of 255 meters of sidewalk along Keppoch Road from Pondside Park to Woodlane Drive, and for the replacement of the corner section of sidewalk at the intersection of Kinlock and Stratford Roads. Only one bid was received in the amount of $224,000 excluding HST from Earthform Landscape Professionals.

Pondside Watershed Restoration Tender Approved

A resolution was approved for a tender bid in the amount of $140,300 excluding HST to Island Coastal Services Ltd. for required work at Moore’s Pond as part of the Pondside Watershed Restoration Project. The tender was previously awarded however the low bidder from that time removed their bid and forfeited their bid bond. As some modifications to the original tender were made, the three original bidders were asked to submit new bids with only one received.

Proclamation – National Forest Week

Mayor Ogden declared September 18-24, 2022 as ‘National Forest Week’ in the Town of Stratford recognizing the importance of forests to our residents, community and environment.

Proclamation – International Day of Peace

Mayor Ogden declared September 21, 2022 as the ‘International Day of Peace’ in the Town of Stratford. This date has been recognized since 1981 by the United Nations and aligns with the Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities commitments, of which the Town of Stratford is a signatory.
