Stratford, PE – The Town of Stratford, in collaboration with T3 Transit and Kari, is proud to launch on-demand transit in a portion of the unserviced areas of Ward 3. This pilot project will launch on September 20th and run until December 2021.

This new initiative will allow residents in Stratford to book their rides between the hours of 7am – 8:30am and 4:30pm – 6pm by using the Kari app. The new service will allow users to transfer to the existing T3 Transit routes. “We are delighted to provide this pilot project to gauge interest in expanding the transit service to parts of Stratford in Ward 3 where transit was previously unavailable,” said Stratford Mayor Steve Ogden. “We hope more residents will use our transit service by making it more accessible to travel to and from Stratford with this pilot program.”

Residents booking their rides through the Kari app will have a shuttle pick them up at their doorstep or a centralized bus stop to catch the bus to Charlottetown or back to their home in Stratford. “Booking through the app is easy,” said Deputy Mayor Gary Clow. “Residents in the defined areas will be able to catch the bus without having to use their own vehicle to meet the bus, and at no extra charge. It will only cost them the standard bus fare.”

“This full-service app will help residents in Ward 3 plan their journey to and from home seamlessly,” added Councillor Derek Smith. “The application, accessible from a mobile device or tablet, will allow users to make recurring bookings and receive notifications on their devices that will update them when the shuttle is reaching them.”

Two information sessions, hosted by the Town of Stratford at the Stratford Emergency Services Centre, and facilitated by representatives of T3 Transit and Kari, are planned for September 9th and September 16th at 6:30 pm to guide residents through the process of downloading the application and booking their rides and answering any questions. All those interested in participating are encouraged to register through the link available on the Town’s website: www.townofstratford.ca.

Future service, either through a possible continuation or expansion of the project, will be explored upon completion of the pilot program. The Town is pleased to contract with T3 Transit and Kari to deliver this on-demand transit pilot program. To learn more about the app, please download Kari app through any Android or Apple device.
