The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

Pipe to Charlottetown Sewer Project Long Term Financing

A resolution was approved to authorize the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer to enter into a Bankers’ Acceptance Service Agreement, a Credit Facilities Agreement and an ISDA Agreement with RBC, on behalf of the Stratford Utility Corporation, to facilitate the long-term financing previously approved at the December 2020 Stratford Town Council Meeting. The resolution also authorizes the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer to enter into a Guarantee and Postponement of Claim on behalf of the Town of Stratford to guarantee the Stratford Utility Corporation’s indebtedness to RBC.

Revised Subdivision Concept Plan

Concord Properties were given preliminary approval to a revised concept plan submitted to the Town of Stratford. The revised concept plan will see a change to the overall subdivision numbers, increasing the number of lots above single dwellings from 38.5% to 43.3%, while allowing a mature stand of trees containing local native species located on the subdivision property to remain in its entirety. The property will now have a proposed 23,200m2 (11.9% of total area) for parkland dedication, excluding the 7,800m2 area proposed for stormwater management (the original concept plan had proposed 10.01% of total area for parkland dedication).

Concord Properties Street Names

Four street names were approved in the new Concord Properties subdivision. The Town’s Heritage Committee proposed:
• Captain James Crescent
• Kelly Heights
• Smallwood Terrace
• Goldsmith Row

102519 PEI Inc. Subdivision Street Name Approved

A new subdivision proposed off of Rankin Drive received approval for a street to be named Woodhouse Court by the Town’s Heritage Committee.

CARI Board Appointment

Stratford Town Council reappointed Kim O’Connell, Director of Finance and Technology, as the Town’s representative on the CARI Board for 2021.

Statistics Canada Request

A request was received from Statistics Canada requesting the Town of Stratford assist them with increasing the awareness of the upcoming census in May to our residents. Council approved a resolution and commits to helping to ensure residents are aware of the importance of completing the census as the data collected has a direct impact on the Town including proving the data needed to plan, develop, and evaluate programs and services. Stratford Town Council supports the 2021 census and encourages all residents to complete their census questionnaire online at www.census.gc.ca when the time comes this year.
