The Town of Stratford is seeking to provide a mentorship opportunity to a local artist, residing on Prince Edward Island. Lacey and Layla Art, internationally recognized mural artists, will be creating mural art in the Town of Stratford in July 2025 and are willing and happy to mentor a local artist. Lacey and Layla will teach the steps needed to create murals and will demonstrate working with a lift. This opportunity exists for artists to mentor and learn so that they feel confident creating future mural art. The Town of Stratford is dedicated in helping artist(s) gain confidence to do mural art and to provide a platform for local artist talent.

Applicants must reside on Prince Edward Island and demonstrate willingness and passion to learn mural art. Applicants must provide examples of past work as well as highlight what work they feel may be suitable for future mural art. No previous mural artwork is needed. Any artist, living on Prince Edward Island, who is willing to learn is invited to apply.

IMPORTANT DATES AND DEADLINES

July 2, 2025: Completed application and supporting materials submission to Town of Stratford by email: [email protected] or by mail: Melanie Weatherbie, Program and Event Coordinator, Town of Stratford, 234 Shakespeare Drive, Stratford, PE, C1B 2V8.

July 7, 2025: Town of Stratford notification to applicant of acceptance or decline.

July 21, 2025: Artist Mentorship begins.

July 28, 2025: Artist Mentorship ends. Completion of project and notification to the Town of Stratford. Completion may vary (earlier/later date) based on weather conditions.

August 15, 2025: Submission of final report to the Town of Stratford
