Municipal Election 2018

Residents are encouraged to vote in the upcoming municipal election. Elections PEI are administering the election in our community and can be reached at 1-888-234-VOTE (8683) or you can  find most of the information you need at: www.electionspei.ca.

Are you registered to vote? Learn more below or contact Elections PEI if you have any questions.

If you registered to vote in advance, you should receive a Voter Information Card (VIC) in the mail. Bring the VIC with you to vote, along with your drivers licence or other ID Card.  (You still need to prove who you are.)

If you registered to vote but do not receive a VIC, you will be in Elections PEI’s computer system, however you will need to provide 2 pieces of ID (To prove who you are and where you live).

If you have not registered to vote in advance, you will need to bring 2 pieces of ID, again to prove who you are and where you live. You can still vote on Election Day if you have not registered in advance.  A list of eligible ID is available online.

Online registration in advance is now closed however you can register through Elections PEI or directly through the Returning Officer who has office space at Stratford Town Centre.  Learn more here.

The qualifications of an elector for municipal elections is as follows:
(1) is a Canadian citizen;
(2) is at least 18 years of age, or will attain that age on or before election day;
(3) has resided in the province for at least the six-month period immediately preceding election day; and
(4) is ordinarily resident in the municipality on election day.

We also invite Stratford residents who are interested, to join us at Stratford Town Centre, 234 Shakespeare Drive, and watch the 2018 municipal election results together. We will live stream the updates from Elections PEI on our projector screen and provide an opportunity for the community to come together to discuss, comment and watch the results come in.  Join us beginning at 7:00pm on Monday, November 5th as election voting closes and ballots begin to be counted. Please join our Facebook group for this event if interested.
