2017 Pre-Budget Consultation Workshop

It’s that time of year again! Please join staff and council members on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00pm to discuss the upcoming Town of Stratford 2017 budget and have an opportunity to make your requests.

As we develop the 2017 budget we want to know your your opinion on our spending priorities. Please let us know where you believe we need to spend more or less of your tax dollars.

To assist you, the following is a list of services the Town of Stratford currently provides:

• public transit – $192,000
• sustainability – $96,000
• police protection (via contract with RCMP) – $780,000
• fire protection (via contract with Cross Roads Rural Community Fire Company) – $290,000
• street lighting – $215,000
• animal control (via a contract with the P.E.I. Humane Society) – $30,000
• sidewalks and trails – $300,000 fully funded by gas tax money funding
• municipal water supply and distribution – $462,000
• municipal sewer collection and treatment – $580,000
• beautification – $30,000
• unsightly property and nuisance regulation – $15,000
• recreation and wellness programs – $30,000
• cultural programs – $27,000
• special events – $26,000
• parks, sport fields and playgrounds – $93,000
• heritage protection and preservation – $6,500
• Fullerton’s Creek Conservation Park – $275,000 fully funded by gas tax money
• wages and benefits for the town and utility- $1,752,000
• technology – $90,000
• debt repayment for town – $537,000
• debt repayment for utility – $808,000
