Media Release: Stratford Annual Resident Survey

Stratford Annual Resident Survey Explores New Topics

For Immediate Release – Tuesday, January 19th, 2016

Stratford, PEI – Today the Town of Stratford launched its 5th Annual Resident Survey. Since its inception in 2011, the survey has informed decisions on topics such as cosmetic pesticides, traffic safety, the Stratford Farmers Market, and the creation of a community garden.

“The Annual Resident Survey has become an integral tool for the Council and Staff in monitoring our progress as well as planning for the future,” commented Stratford Mayor, David Dunphy. “In fact, we just recently launched a new initiative called “Snow Angels” based on suggestions received through the survey last year.”

“Snow Angels” is a new program to identify seniors and residents with disabilities, illness or other need for help with snow removal.   The program then connects them with volunteer residents who are interested and able to help them.

This year, in addition to ongoing topics such as physical activity, governance and safety, the survey includes a new series of topics. These questions ask about residents’ knowledge and use of the Stratford T3 Transit system, their local buying habits and opinions about potential development and zoning options for the Town.

“Over the coming year, Council will be reviewing our Zoning Bylaw and it is important to understand residents’ thoughts on how and where development will happen,” shared Dunphy. “We also want to be sure our new and existing programs such as Support Local and the T3 Transit have the greatest possible impact.  Feedback through the survey helps us do this.”

Residents can complete the survey online now by visiting the Town website or going directly to www.TownofStratford.ca/Annual-Resident-Survey. A print version of the survey will once again be distributed to all residents in the coming weeks. The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 7th, 2016.
