The Town of Stratford is undertaking a forest inventory this summer & fall, as the next phase of our natural asset inventory and management planning efforts. To plant more trees and effectively manage existing trees, the Town needs to understand our current forest health and composition. Then we can determine where trees are needed and what species are needed to achieve the greatest biodiversity and minimize risk from pests and diseases. To achieve maximum carbon sequestration from existing trees, the Town can carry out management of trees and forests to ensure they are healthy for as long as possible.
