JobThe Town of Stratford is looking for proposals from artists to teach art practices to adults (age 16+), youth (ages 5-15), and children (0-4 years). The Town of Stratford provides quality arts education for all ages and skill levels. We offer a friendly, non-competitive environment where students are encouraged to learn and to develop an appreciation for the arts. Classes and workshop are offered in-person and online.


  • Artists should be available to teach weekly classes and/or workshops.
  • Weekly 1.5-hour (minimum) classes for adults, 1-hour (minimum) classes for youth, and 45 minutes classes for children.
  • Sessions run for 8 to 10 weeks during fall, winter and spring seasons.
  • Workshops are often offered over a 1 or 2 days for 3 to 6 hours per workshop. These are flexible and negotiable.
  • The Town’s Recreation, Culture and Events Department will deal with all registration and payments from students and promotions of programs.
  • Most art sessions/workshop will be held in the Gertrude Cotton Building, 57 Bunbury Road, Stratford.

  • Position(s) are as a casual contracted employee (self-employment agreement).
  • $26.00 per hour plus paid pre-time, curriculum development time.
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
  • Newer or emerging artists are welcomed.

  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset. If you don’t have the certification, would you be willing to get certified prior to starting?
  • Do you have reliable transportation? Transportation will be required to attend in-person programming and purchasing supplies for your program.
