Stratford to celebrate 25th BirthdayStratford Finding Unique Ways to Celebrate 25th Birthday

As the Town of Stratford turns 25 on Wednesday, April 1st, the community celebration that was being planned is on hold due to COVID-19 however, that will not stop residents from celebrating in other ways.

“It’s important at this time for residents to continue to find ways to connect with one another,” said Stratford Mayor Steve Ogden. “The Town’s 25th is giving us a unique opportunity to encourage this to happen throughout Stratford all day on April 1st and we hope that residents will join us and find their own ways to celebrate.”

An event page on the Town of Stratford’s Facebook page has been created and the Town will be providing residents with a list of 25 ways to celebrate. “We are encouraging all residents to find something in their day tomorrow to do in honour of the Town’s 25th birthday,” continued Mayor Ogden. “They can take inspiration from the list we have created or find their own way to mark the day, but we hope they will make it a special day”. Some of the suggested ideas include baking a birthday cake, decorating your front window with birthday messages and decorations, or writing a song, poem or fictional short story about Stratford.

Residents are being asked to send in their pictures by 4pm on Thursday, April 2 to be included in a virtual scrapbook that is being created as well. As many photos as possible shared on social media using #Celebrating25Together, posted in the Facebook event page or emailed to [email protected] will be included. The Town will be making a few $25 gift certificate prize draws from submissions received as well.

“We really just want this day to be something that residents remember, not only because of the situation we find ourselves in but because it is a special day,” added Mayor Ogden. “While we continue to social distance ourselves, it is an opportunity for us all to connect virtually with our community”.

A video recorded previously will be posted on the Town’s social media accounts at 2pm on April 1st and residents are invited and encouraged to play it and sing ‘Happy Birthday’ along with Mayor and Council at that time.
