*Please note that registration for courses will continue on the first night of class (Wednesday, September 21 beginning at 6pm, class begins at 6:30pm). As of September 15, 2016 the following courses have been cancelled: Hooked on Cruising, Sign Language and Stained Glass and the following courses are full for this year: Intermediate Guitar, Knitting, Line Dancing, Photography, and Yoga. Also note that the Computer course should have been named “Computer and Social Media” in previous promotion and still has room for registrants.

New Stratford Community School Courses – September 2016

Estate Planning – A comprehensive look at the steps involved in planning a secure future. Topics covered will include financial planning, life insurance, making a will, power of attorney, executor duties, funeral planning, planned giving and organ donation.

Hooked on Cruising – A course about river cruising where you’ll learn about various cruise lines and get tips on how to choose the right ship, destination and travel date for you. How to become a cruise travel seller will also be discussed. Course instructed by Debra Macintyre and Ken Lawrence of Compass Media.

Pickleball – A racquet sport played on a court with a net and a whiffle ball that’s suitable for all ages and mobility levels. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn the rules of this popular sport and practice your technique under instruction by experienced members of the Stratford Pickleball Club.

World Cultures and Religions – A course, organized by Heather Brown of Stratford, that will illuminate the emerging cultural and religious diversity of residents of PEI. This will consist of presentations and a question and answer period plus an ethnic snack from these communities – Islamic; Buddhist; Judaic; Christian; Chinese Christian; Bahá’í; and, Mi’Kmaq.

Yoga – Lead Marian Curran, Registered Massage Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher and Certified Ayurvedic Counselor. This style of yoga is appropriate for beginners to intermediate levels. The first half of the class will focus on building up a yoga practice through a gentle series of flowing yoga postures to gain strength, flexibility and stamina. The second half will focus on learning more about Ayurvedic Medicine, the traditional medicine of India; the sister science of yoga.
