Heritage Award Ceremony

On February 10 at 6:30 p.m., the Town of Stratford will be presenting their first Heritage Award. Stratford Heritage Committee has established the award, to be given annually, to a deserving recipient who has demonstrated a strong commitment to the preservation of our Town's historical legacy. This event will take plcae at the Town Hall.

The Heritage Award will honour an individual, family or organization that has made a sympathetic improvement, repair, or addition to an existing building or has undertaken an educational initiative promoting heritage conservation. Area residents are invited to attend the inaugural ceremony where the first recipeint will be presented with this new honour. The Heritage Award, designed by Stratford artists Marcela Rosemberg and Tina Davis, is a unique piece of art created in Stratford at Marcela's Rosemberg's fused glass studio.

On the same evening the Town will be receiving a gift of house plans from the family of the late Imelda Wellner, whose residence on Keppoch Road was designed by the renowned Island architect, James Harris, and on view we will have a selection of photographs that the Town has commissioned, of local heritage properties. Light refreshments will be served.

Stratford Heritage Committee chair Doug Kelly said "I look forward to our first heritage award, we have been working to identify historical resources within the Town and we are always interested in hearing more about hidden treasures and family lore."
