| Historical Context: | William Mason was born on November 13 1786 in Yorkshire, England. He emigrated to PEI in the early 19th century and settled in Bunbury. His first home was a log cabin built down by the river, however, when George, the oldest son, married the present home was built. William wanted to build this new home where the log cabin was situated but George wanted to build on the Bunbury Rod, the main road in the town. They compromised and built the house half way up on what is now the Mason Road.
