As we begin to prepare for another Island winter, we have started to create a list of volunteers willing to help out their fellow Stratford residents this winter. While we all hope that the predictions of a snow-filled winter aren’t true, even a small amount of snow can be hard to clear for seniors or someone with a disability or injury. This winter let’s all be mindful of our neighbours and lend a hand when we can.
The Town of Stratford is creating a list of people in our community for the 2016-17 winter season who are willing to help out by volunteering when they are available and needed. We are also looking to create an ongoing list of those who provide snow clearing services seasonally to residents (sidewalks, decks, etc. and not driveways) as there is a need in our community for these services which can be hard to find. This list will include both individuals (students, retirees, etc.) and companies who are able to assist residents looking for ongoing services this winter season. If this is you, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be included on the list.
As winter storm events arise, we will do our best to continue to assist those who need one-time help by acting as the intermediary to connect you to those who are able to help. Please note that this is not intended to solve an ongoing need for residents but rather is for assistance on a one-time basis and will need to be requested as such for each event. Once we have a list created for those who provide service seasonally, we will be sure to share it here.
You don’t need to sign up to be a Snow Angel – just go out and help your neighbours!
