The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council.
Appointment of Directors
Seven members were appointed to the Board of Directors of the Cross Roads Rural Community Fire Company. The following will serve for the upcoming 2019 term:
-Councillor Derek Smith, Town Council Representative -David Swan
-David Milligan -David Panton
-Norman MacDonald -Ross Wheatley
-Carol-Anne Duffy
Events Sub-Committee Member Appointment
In accordance with Bylaw #33, Stratford Committee Bylaw, Pat Martel has been appointed to the Events Committee and will serve on the current two-year term which ends November 30, 2020.
First Reading of Amendment to Allow Dale Drive Development to Proceed
Council approved first reading of a re-zoning request that, if approved following second reading, will allow for the construction of a 56 unit, 4 storey apartment building, containing 30 affordable housing units on Dale Drive. The zoning amendment will now rezone a portion of 518910, 398610, 538132, and 482307 (approx. 1.3 acres) from the Mason Road Commercial Zone (MRC) to Mason Road Mixed Use Zone (MRMU). The reduction in the size of the parcel to be rezoned will allow for potential future commercial development on the remaining land.
Proclamation
Mayor Steve Ogden proclaimed that February 1-7, 2019 will be Eating Disorder Awareness Week in the Town of Stratford.
