Skateboarding provides a low cost opportunity for young people to explore unstructured recreational activity. In the past several years a growing number of skateparks have emerged in various communities throughout the Maritimes.

The Town of Stratford has budgeted $150,000 in 2015 for this project and is providing the land and the ongoing maintenance of the park. The Skatepark Steering Committee is currently in the process of working with other levels of government, applying for grants, connecting with service clubs and businesses, and participating in direct fundraising activities to raise the additional funds required to build the park.
