Committees

Council, through the Stratford Committee Bylaw, has established a number of standing and special committees to assist them in its' deliberations.  For the most part, the committees perform a fact finding function and only make recommendations to Council.  The Stratford Utility is a separate Corporation pursuant to the Charlottetown Area Municipalities Act and the Stratford Utility Board has the authority to make decisions on Council's behalf except for budget and rate approval.   All of the special committees are made up of two Council members and five resident members.  The inclusion of residents on Town committees greatly improves the decision making process for Council by allowing them to tap into expertise and different viewpoints.
