Citizens on Patrol

Town of Stratford and the Stratford Division of the R.C.M.P. This volunteer program, underway since October 2008, enlists Stratford residents to participate in the safety of their community by observing and reporting suspicious events. COP volunteers provide an “extra set of eyes and ears” in crime prevention and provide community-wide surveillance from unmarked vehicles on Friday and Saturday evenings and occasionally, at the request of the RCMP, are enlisted to assist
during special events.

Last year Citizen on Patrol volunteers reported 64 incidents and logged over 1200 hours. The types of reported episodes included break and enters, property damage, impaired driving, and suspicious or disorderly conduct. Successfully recruited COP volunteers are 18 years of age or older and receive two days of supervised training. If COP appeals to your civic interests, please pick up a COP application form at the Stratford Town Centre and do your part to help make the Town of Stratford one of PEI’s safest communities to live.
