Happy Potter

SB LOGO CONCEPTS“Pottery is really quite magical….there is just nothing like creating something from a lump of clay, and the process is so imaginative, creative and rewarding…not to mention just plain ol’ messy fun! I find it to be a real confidence builder for kids, as you can really do no wrong with pottery creations and they are so proud with their one-of-a-kind works of art that last forever.”

There is no denying that Donna Macleod has passion for pottery. It is this passion that has inspired Stratford’s exciting new addition, Happy Potter, where children and adults can learn the art of pottery in a fun and relaxed environment. Donna is excited to offer her community the chance to experiment with and try pottery, hoping that the art will bring as much joy to others as it has to her.

Donna’s love for pottery began when she was a young girl. She grew up on an Island farm in a close-knit community where she had lots of opportunities to learn various crafts and skills. Donna always loved sitting at mud puddles and playing with the clay, or digging up the clay at the beach and creating whatever her imagination could think up. She loves the artistic freedom that comes along with pottery, how you can create something one-of-a-kind that leaves you with a true sense of pride and accomplishment. Her pottery lessons provide a unique and cathartic experience unlike anything else offered on the Island.

Donna has been a potter for over 10 years, teaching lessons out of her home before opening Happy Potter this year. She finds it extremely rewarding and fun doing pottery with kids. She believes it can have a really positive impact on their lives by encouraging them to create and express themselves freely. She says working with clay provides kids with an invaluable experience that helps them develop sensory and motor skills, positive self-esteem, self-expression, creative problem solving skills, discipline, and pride. Donna invites all Islanders to visit Happy Potter in Stratford for a chance to experience the magic of pottery!
