Police Week: May 12-17, 2014

Across Prince Edward Island, RCMP members and employees of District offices will be showcasing policing products, inviting community members to share in BBQ’s and taking part in activities that increase community awareness and recognition of police work in their neighbourhoods.

Police Week is a national initiative that began in 1970 as a way to connect with communities and increase awareness about the services the RCMP provide. During the week RCMP on P.E.I. are going out to local venues or inviting people into their detachments to demonstrate the work that is done every day to keep our communities a safe place to live, work and play.

On May 12 the RCMP, joined by Hot 105.5, conducted a check stop in Stratford promoting Leave the Phone Alone. Stratford Town Councillors Gary Clow and Randy Cooper were also on hand to ask drivers to leave the phone alone and hand out prizes to any motorists who said the phrase.
