Waterfront Park and Gateway Design Meeting – CONCEPT DESIGNS

On May 7th the Town of Stratford and Viridis Design Studio held a visioning session where participants provided input for the Waterfront Park, screening ideas for the lagoon site and suggestions for the gateway. The Waterfront Park will be located in front of the Southport Landing development (Sheppard Drive) and will connect to the Trans Canada Trail and the Hillsborough Bridge. The gateway is the TransCanada Highway entrance to the Town from the Hillsborough Bridge.

“We were pleased to receive input from residents at the public visioning session and we hope many more residents join us to view, discuss and provide feedback on the initial designs,” said Mayor Dunphy. “This is an exciting project that has great potential but we need continued input from residents and stakeholders to make it the best that it can be.”

In the 2014 budget, $200,000, funded through the New Deal Gas Tax program, was allotted for Phase 1 of the development. From the May 7th visioning sessionand from comments and ideas provided through email and twitter, a conceptual design has been created. On June 4th an open house was held where the following draft concepts were presented.
