Waste Water Treatment Plant Maintenance

2013 Sludge Removal Completed

Workers recently completed the sludge removal process at the Town’s Waste Water Treatment Plant.

The contractor began set up on Tuesday November 19th and completed the job by Tuesday November 26th, using two crews to continue the removal of sludge 24 hours a day.

The firm removed 160 dry tons of sludge from cell #2.

The actual sludge removal process took only four days to complete as work was shut down several times due to poor weather.

Geo-tube bags will remain at the Treatment Plant until next summer.

The Town is satisfied with the quality of the work and the volume of sludge that was removed. This work will help ensure the effluent quality of the plant meets or exceeds requirements so that there is no negative impact on the receiving waters .
