Join us for Deepawali, the Festival of Lights

The Town of Stratford is hosting its first ever Deepawali Celebration at the Stratford Town Centre on Saturday November 2, 2013 at 6pm.

Please join us as we celebrate the contribution of our resident communities coming from East Indian cultural groups and other South Asian nations.  Welcoming everyone and celebrating our diversity are important parts of our plan to build the best community possible.

All residents are invited to come out and learn more about Deepawali and enjoy some dance, music and food from the South Asian cultures who celebrate the Deepawali, also known as the festival of lights. Deepawali is one of the largest and widely celebrated festivals in India, observed mostly by those belonging to Hindus, Sikhs and Jain religions around the world.  The word Deepawali comes from the ancient Sanskrit word which means row of lights and signifies “the awareness of the inner light”.

Join fellow residents who emigrated from countries such as Nepal, Butane, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa, and Fiji to celebrate one of their important cultural events.
