Heather Brown Honoured as Volunteer of the Year

Heather Brown and Mayor Dunphy Volunteer of the YearThe citation for the 2013 Neil and Gail MacDonald Volunteer of the Year Award provides many reasons for this honour.

Heather helps promote Youth Can-Do every chance she gets and she has introduced YCD to many of its valuable partners.

When Heather is present, the youth feel valued, respected, and wanted. She goes out of her way to always thank the youth for their efforts and to speak with each participant. That means a great deal to the youth participants.

Heather listened when the youth wanted to participate in the Community School. Youth 15+ are now able to attend the classes at the Stratford Community School.

Heather has spent an immeasurable amount of time, efforts, and skills to the Home Care Program that allows older members of our community to stay as long as possible in their own homes.

Heather is no ordinary volunteer as she always comes fully equipped to make any volunteer venue a full resounding success. Thanks in most part to her dedication and belief in community and making our community better for everyone. For Heather, community is just not her street or town, but her province, and country.

Thank you Heather!

We hope this award is a small indication as to how important you are to our community and how much we all treasure you.
