Town of Stratford Names Senior Volunteer of the Year
During the Town of Stratford’s recent Winter Carnival, the annual MacDougall – MacIntyre Senior Volunteer of the Year award presentation was made.  This award is presented annually to a person, or persons, who demonstrate a commitment to seniors in the Town of Stratford through outstanding volunteer service.  The person or persons nominated will have demonstrated a long term commitment to Senior’s and be an inspiration to others.

“I was very pleased to present Mary Kenny with this award during Stratford’s Winter Carnival,” Mayor David Dunphy commented. “It’s very fitting to present such an award during one of our busiest weeks in Stratford, a week which relies heavily on our staff having the support of volunteers from the community.”

Mary Kenny is a long-time resident of Stratford, and of the former community of Bunbury, with her husband John.  Her children were raised in the community and now in her retirement Mrs. Kenny spends countless hours helping out in the Town.

Her volunteer activities include volunteering with the Mayflower Seniors Club lunches, craft group, and numerous other activities, along with being an active Catholic Women’s League member at Our Lady of the Assumption church.  Mary still finds time to volunteer weekly with the Stratford Elementary School Breakfast Program and can be seen picking up fellow seniors around Stratford to take them to and from meetings at the Mayflower Seniors Club and other appointments.

“Her non-stop contribution to the residents of Stratford makes her well deserving of this award,” added Mayor Dunphy.
